Job Alert: The Greensboro Aquatic Center will be hiring more than 100 part-time employees before opening in August. A job fair will take place next Thursday, May 5 from 4 –til- 7pm at the coliseum's terrace on West Lee Street. Positions needed include: lifeguards and admission clerks. Ambulance fees in Forsyth County will go up on May 1, after a vote by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners on Monday night. The board reviews ambulance fees every three years and usually makes adjustments to keep the fees in line with Medicare reimbursements. Doctors have given Representative Gabrielle Giffords the go-ahead to travel to Cape Canaveral this Friday to watch the launch of space shuttle Endeavor. Gifford’s husband, Mark Kelly, is the commander of the shuttle mission. The trip for Gifford’s will be the first for the Arizona congresswoman since she was flown from Tucson to Houston more than three months ago to recover after she was critically wounded during a shooting rampage in Tucson, Arizona. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20110425/D9MQKSA02.html

Space Shuttle Endeavor's final mission will include 16 science projects from across the nation including an experiment from the science team at Mendenhall Middle School in Greensboro.  The student’s project: to see how the zero-gravity environment of outer space affects the growth of ‘brine shrimp’. The science team from Mendenhall Middle School will fly to Florida to see the shuttle take off with their experiment.   Fox 8
 
Are you ready for fresh strawberries? Great news: This year’s strawberry crops are coming in earlier than normal…because of the warm weather. Strawberry crops are normally ready around May 1st. The strawberry-picking season generally lasts from 5-8 weeks, depending on weather. Traffic Update:  Road closed in Northern Davidson County (Arcadia community)
Enterprise Road at Deerfield Court will be closed for the next three weeks because of road construction. (Crews are replacing a pipe).  FYI: The road closure is closer to the Highway 150 side of Enterprise Road and will remain closed until (Friday) May 13th . Detour signs have been posted.
