AirTran Airways is defended its decision to remove a Massachusetts couple from a flight…after their crying 3-year-old daughter refused to sit in her seat before takeoff.
An AirTran spokesperson stating that…the flight was already delayed 15 minutes and in fairness to the other 112 passengers on the plane, the crew made an operational decision to remove the family."
AirTran officials said they followed FAA rules that children age 2 and above must have their own seat and be wearing a seat belt upon takeoff.
The family was headed home to Boston on Jan. 14 from Fort Myers, Florida said they just needed a little more time to calm their daughter, Elly.
Ait Tran reimbursed the family $595.80, the cost of the three tickets, and the Kuleszas flew home the next day.
They also were offered three roundtrip tickets anywhere the airline flies, Graham-Weaver said. The father said his family would never fly AirTran again.

SYDNEY, Australia – Eric Nerhaus told rescue workers that he survived the attack from what looked like a great white shark by poking it in the eye.
A fellow diver said that the 10-foot-long shark had already made one pass at Nerhus -- essentially swallowing his head, crushing his face mask and breaking his nose -- before coming back for a second bite when it clenched its jaws around his entire head and torso. He smacked the shark in the eye and escaped.
A shark expert said the shark probably mistook Nerhaus, who was wearing a black wet suit, for a seal.
The 41-year-old was pulled from the water by his son, and flown to a hospital with serious injuries to his head, body and left arm.
Experts said Australia has one of the world's highest rates of shark attacks, with roughly 15 a year. http://www.wxii12.com/news/10828274/detail.html

Insurance giant State Farm agreed on Tuesday to settle hundreds of lawsuits by policyholders in Mississippi over unpaid damage claims after Hurricane Katrina. The deal calls for State Farm to pay about $80 million dollars to more than 600 policyholders. But it could be potentially worth hundreds of millions of dollars for homeowners devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The company will then be required to make offers to those policyholders. The amount of each offer will vary depending on how badly each home was damaged.
