Good news for the ski resorts…
Northern Mountains…
Snow advisory in effect until midnight tonight.Snow will develop this morning and continue through the afternoon. Snow could be heavy at times late this morning west of a line from boone north carolina to bluefield west virginia. Snowfall amounts of 1 to 4 inches are expected by tonight.

A Wind Advisory…
Sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph can be expected. Visibility could be greatly reduced because of blowing snow. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution

A Winston-Salem man rescued his 90-year-old mother from her burning house yesterday morning. It happened on Watson Street near Hawthorne Avenue. Ronald Robertson saw smoke coming from the house and ran around back to help his mother escape. She was not injured but fire destroyed the home. Investigators are looking at the furnace as the source of the fire.

New jobs are on the way to southwest Virginia.
XM Satellite Radio is hiring workers for a customer service center in Galax. The average pay is about $8 an hour. More than 250 jobs are being created.
Training for the first 50 employees begins on Feb. 1. Carroll and Grayson counties and the city of Galax in Virginia…more than 1,000 jobs were lost in 2006. http://www.wxii12.com/news/10678726/detail.html

You might think that dating comes naturally to college students. Starting in February, students at the University of Sioux Falls in South Dakota will be able to take a course on dating called "Finding Dates Worth Keeping". The dating class will carry one credit.
The instructor Laurie Chaplin has been married 28 years and has three children. She says today's young people need help in establishing lifelong relationships.But the course won't just focus on finding dates. -Benny Parsons was checked into the intensive care unit at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte over the weekend. Doctors are treating Parson’s for serious complications stemming his treatment for lung cancer last year.
