North Carolina wildfire officials have banned all outdoor burning and canceled all burning permits because of dry and windy conditions across the state. The outdoor burning ban will remain in effect until conditions improve.

Firefighters are still battling a wildfire on Sauratown Mountain in Stokes County. More than 200 acres have been scorched by fire on Sauratown Mountain since Wednesday evening. .
The Division of Forest Resources saying that more than 1,800 wildfires have burned over 18,000 acres in North Carolina so far in 2008.

The City of Winston-Salem has decided to drop ‘the Drop’. That’s the summer concert series for teen that had a few problems last year. ‘The Drop’ will be replaced by another activity for teens. The city is surveying teens for possible alternatives. (http://www.journalnow.com/)
