St Patrick’s Day

A fire early Sunday morning destroyed a gift shop and museum at Tweetsie Railroad. The 1,300-square-foot building was one of the original depot buildings at Tweetsie. Owners saying that they will rebuild and be ready to open in May.

The clean-up continues in downtown Atlanta: No one was seriously injured but a number of buildings and cars were heavily damaged by an F2 tornado that blew through Atlanta on Friday night.

Tibet's governor has promised leniency to anti-Chinese protesters who turned themselves in before the end of Monday - and harsh consequences for those who don't. The uprising, the fiercest against Chinese rule in the region in almost 20 years, has claimed at least 16 lives. More fall out from the US Mortgage Crisis: JPMorgan Chase has agreed banking giant Bear Stearns for over $236 million dollars (or just $2 dollars a share). JPMorgan Chase said that it will get special financing from the Fed in connection with the deal. The Wall Street Journal reporting that Bear Stearns was pushed to the brink of collapse by the current mortgage crisis in the U.S. Three people are still missing, after a deadly crane collapse in East Manhattan on Saturday. The accident fatally wounded four construction workers. NY City officials inspected the crane Friday and found no violations.

VICE PRESIDENT DICK CHENEY ARRIVED IN IRAQ FOR A SURPRISE VISIT TO US TROOPS EARLIER TODAY. Wednesday is the 5th anniversary of the War in Iraq.

Millions of swarming honey bees were on the loose Sunday afternoon after a truck carrying crates of the insects flipped over on Highway 99 near Sacramento, California.
