The city of Greensboro kicks off its bicentennial celebration today with the first of four torch relays — each scheduled for between 4 to 7 p.m.
Greensboro will wrap up the Bi-centennial celebration with a parade on May 17.
The dates match a 54-day period in 1808, starting when the land to found the city was sold and ending when the sale became final.
Bicentennial events are planned throughout the year.
