Breaking News: Wells Fargo will acquire Charlotte-based Wachovia in an all-stock transaction worth about $15 billion dollars. Wachovia has ended talks with Citigroup. Wachovia shareholders will receive 0.1991 shares of Wells Fargo for every share of Wachovia stock they own, valuing Wachovia Corp. at about $7 dollars per share. www.wxii12.com/news/17614326/detail.html

Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will attend a fund-raiser in Greensboro on October 16. Fundraiser will be by invitation only. It’s unclear whether Palin will appear at any public events.
