Attractions on top of Grandfather Mountain are closed until the weather improves. The area has been hit hard by snow, ice, bitterly cold weather and strong winds. People thinking about going to Grandfather Mountain are asked to call ahead. (1-828-733-4337)

N-B-C IS PLANNING ANOTHER SHAKE-UP OF ITS LATE NIGHT LINE-UP. The network has a plan in the works to restore Jay Leno to his old spot at 11:35pm each weeknight for a half-hour. Conan O'Brien would move to 12:05am for a full hour.

A 54-year-old bridge in Guilford County is rated the state’s worst bridge…for the third consecutive year. According to AAA Carolinas, Forsyth County topped the list with six bridges among the top 20 substandard bridges and Guilford County had four bridges on the list.

Police are investigating a fire that broke out at High Point Central High School yesterday afternoon. The fire started in a mop bucket in the closet of a bathroom on the third floor. The school was evacuated, and the fire was extinguished. http://www.wxii12.com/news/22179561/detail.html

In Winston-Salem:
Expect more traffic delays along NB Silas Creek Parkway…down to one lane near Robinhood Road. DOT officials saying that it could be Monday before all lanes are back open
FYI: The cold weather is preventing road crews from pouring asphalt to repair roads broken by water.

Much of the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina and Virginia has been closed to motorists because of heavy accumulations of snow and ice as well as downed trees.
