The US military is distributing some 50 thousand hand-held radios to survivors in Haiti. The radios will provide news and important information concerning international relief efforts. The radios are powered by solar energy and hand cranks instead of batteries.

Cutting your salt intake by just 3 grams a day – that’s the equivalent of half a teaspoon -- could dramatically cut your chances of heart disease. Conan O'Brien has reportedly signed a deal with NBC to walk away from "The Tonight Show." According to the Wall Street Journal, the deal is expected to include a severance payment of about $32 million dollars for O'Brien plus about $12 million dollars for his staff. The deal also places Jay Leno (back) as host of "The Tonight Show" at 11:35pm.

Country music legend Charlie Daniels suffered a mild stroke last Friday (Jan. 15) while vacationing in Colorado. Daniels was treated at a medical center in Durango after the stroke and was then airlifted to a Denver hospital, where he was released on Sunday (Jan. 17).
No concert dates are expected to be canceled.
