Sad News…Wilma the Bald Eagle, who had lived at Grandfather Mountain's animal habitat since 1981, was euthanized over the weekend after a period of declining health. Her arthritis had become so bad that she had to lie down frequently. She was at least 34 years old, and was brought to Grandfather Mountain after being shot and wounded somewhere in the western U.S.

The Queen of Soul will perform tonight with a former secretary of state…for a good cause. Aretha Franklin and former U.S. secretary of state Condoleezza Rice are headlining a concert in Philadelphia tonight to raise money for inner-city youth in Detroit and Philadelphia. Aretha will be singing…Condee will be playing the piano. Ms Rice is trained as a classical pianist. FYI: After she left government, Rice returned to California, to Stanford University, where she is teaching and writing several books.
