BTW: A Silver Alert for an elderly Kernersville man has been cancelled.Hundreds of Piedmont residents in the Triad should notice a better taste to their tap water by the end of July. Seven cities include Greensboro, High Point, Jamestown and Archdale will switch to a new water treatment process on July 25. It will take five to eight days for most people to notice the change. Ammonia will be added to the chlorine to create chloramines that don't pass off the obvious chlorine smell or taste. Officials state that the chemical mixture is more stable than chlorine alone, but the chemicals could be harmful to kidney dialysis patients and pet fish. In these cases, chlorine can be removed from water by letting it sit out and boiling it. http://www.myfox8.com/news/wghp-piedmont-to-get-better-tasting-tap-water-in-july-20110606,0,4721956.story

Commissioners in Yadkin County have petitioned the state DOT to name the Highway 421 bridge over the Yadkin River for one of their own, Sergeant Mickey Hutchins, who died in the line of duty in 2009.  Hutchins grew up in Yadkin County and drove over the 421 bridge between Yadkin and Forsyth to and from work each day until his death.  (The Winston-Salem Journal)

Military families across the state (and the nation) are supporting a Bill being discussed in Washington, DC that would ensure more privacy and respect during funerals of fallen servicemen and women. The Sanctity of Eternal Rest for Veterans, or SERVE Act, would increase restrictions including already placed on protestors at military funerals. This is all being done after protests by Westboro Baptist Church during military burials. FOX News

One of the worst wildfires in Arizona history is beginning to threaten neighboring New Mexico. Smoke from the wildfires can be detected hundreds of miles away to the north…in Iowa. **The Arizona wildfires have not only forced the evacuation of thousands of residents…it also disrupted the wedding plans of Roni Handsman and Andy Dennehy an Arizona couple that had planned to be married on Sunday atop Mount Lemmon, where the pair first met. The closing of the Apache National Forest has forced the couple to move the ceremony elsewhere. www.wxii12.com/news/28153063/detail.html#ixzz1OaRycTZb
