WBFJ News Up-date

You may be wondering how you can help the students and faculty at Eastern Guilford:
-Financial Contributions Can Be Made at any BB&T Branch location in Guilford
County and east to the Burlington area (or at the GCS Administrative Offices)
-School supplies can be dropped off at the Guilford County Schools
Administrative offices on North Eugene Street…M - F 8 to 5pm.
-New or used Band Instruments are also needed…
-All donations will be used exclusively for Eastern High relief efforts.

The Guilford County School Board will meet this morning at 11am to discuss the future Eastern Guilford High School. A fire destroyed most of the school on Wednesday afternoon. Eastern Guilford, built 1974, did not have a sprinkler system.

Love seafood? Well, crab cakes, swordfish steaks and even humble fish sticks could be little more than a fond memory in a few decades. Scientists speculate that if current trends of over-fishing and pollution continue…the populations of just about all seafood face collapse by 20-48.
In 2004, the average American consumed over 16 pounds of seafood in 2004. The report in today’s issue of the journal Science. (Reuters)

The Marching Black Knights of North Davidson High School in Northern Davidson County will be holding their 6th annual Fall Festival of Bands at North Davidson tomorrow from 11:30 to 8:30. 21 area marching bands are scheduled to compete!

Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for students, age 4 and under free

If you are registered to vote in North Carolina…you can still vote early through this Saturday (November 4th)

Campaigning from beyond the grave? Yes...this is true!
A slick campaign mailer shows a smiling Texas state representative and reminds voters of her achievements in education, economics and politics.
But it fails to mention that she is no longer with the residents of Texas.
Republican Glenda Dawson passed away in September…but her campaign continues. Campaign officials hope she will win re-election for a two-year term over her Democratic challenger.
If she wins, Texas Governor Rick Perry would call a special election to fill the vacancy in the heavily Republican district near Houston. The man overseeing her campaign said the new flier was prepared as a "tribute" to Dawson… (AP)
