Winston-Salem Police have made an arrest in the shooting at the Red Rooster Nightclub that claimed the life of Sgt. Howard Plouff. Authorities charging a 22 year old late last night with first-degree murder in connection the shooting that happened last Friday at the Red Rooster nightclub on Jonestown Road. www.journalnow.com
-Donations for the Sgt. Howard Plouff Memorial Fund can be made at area Wachovia Bank locations. Collected by the N.C. Chapter of the Police Benevolent Association.

Concerns that the US and Chinese economies are struggling triggered a 400-point slide in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the worst point drop on Wall Street since the 2001 terror attacks. An analyst in Tokyo said that a correction in the market could continue "for the next couple of months."

LSB Bancshares and Greensboro-based FNB Financial Services will merge.
The new bank will be headquartered in Greensboro. The merger should complete late this summer.

Christian relief organization, World Vision, is rushing emergency supplies to children and families left homeless by the devastating cyclone that struck Mozambique, last week. More than 165,000 people have been left homeless and desperately need food, shelter and fresh clean water. www.worldvision.org

Police in Colorado said a mom tried to trade her 5-month-old boy to a couple in exchange for a down payment on a used car.
After a tip…Authorities arrested three people on charges of swapping a 5-month-old boy for a down payment on a used Dodge Intrepid and cash…totaling $1,500 dollars. The three have been booked on suspicion of felony trafficking of children. Police said the baby has been placed in a foster home. (CNN)

A more normal kind of trade:
The "Holy Grail of baseball cards," the famous 1909 Honus Wagner tobacco card once owned by hockey great Wayne Gretzky, has sold for a record-setting $2.35 million dollars. There are about 60 of the tobacco cards in existence featuring the Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop, one of the first five players to be inducted in Baseball's Hall of Fame. (AP)
