Beginning Saturday, December 1st, a new law goes into effect that limits a defendant's ability to ask for a "prayer for judgment" after he or she has pled guilty to speeding more than 25 miles per hour over the speed limit. A prayer for judgment is a punishment that allows a driver to keep their license without accumulating points on their license or insurance.-The new law also prevents a defendant from using an "improper equipment plea" if they are caught driving faster than 25 mph over the limit.

More than 50,000 motorists were ticketed during Operation Slow Down…the statewide crackdown on speeders by the North Carolina Highway Patrol. Of those citations, over 24,000 were ticketed for speeding. (Close to 1,000 people were ticketed for DWI).

The FDA's Pediatric Advisory Committee has recommended that the prescription flu drug Tamiflu should have a stronger warning label…after reports of bizarre behavior, even death among children who have used the flu medication. http://www.healthday.com/Article.asp?AID=610343

Eight Republican presidential hopefuls will take questions from the public tonight by way of the web in the party's first CNN/YouTube debate…starting at 8pm. http://www.cnn.com/

Pakistan’s President turned in his military uniform yesterday…but not control of the country. Pervez Musharraf will take the oath of office as a civilian president today. Musharraf suspended Pakistan’s constitution when he declared a state of emergency on November third.

THE INVENTOR OF GATORADE HAS DIED. Dr. Robert Cade and his research team came up with the sports drink at the University of Florida back in the mid-60’s. Royalties from Gatorade has brought the University of Florida more than 150-million dollars.

So why is the Food Network putting a lid on "Emeril Live?"
Celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse saying simply…All good things come to an end. Emeril Live has been on the air for 10 years, will cease production December 11. Emeril Lagasse is still doing other shows for Food Network
