Post-election results:
Father and son winning in the town of Midway…George Byrum was elected Mayor. The son, John Byrum, will continue serving on the town council. Congrates to the rest of the newly elected Midway Town Council: Mike McAlpine, Todd Nifong, Robin Moon and Wiley Nifong.

-Yvonne Johnson will be the new Mayor of Greensboro.
-Curtis Swisher winning in Kernersville
-Challenger John Bost winning in Clemmons
-Voters in Lewisville striking down a proposal for the city to buy land for a new park…without more information.
-Voters in Surry and Davie County decided not to approve a one-quarter percent sales tax increase.
-Voters in Walnut Cove and Trinity said NO to the sale of mixed drinks at public places like restaurants and hotels.
In New Jersey, voters have rejected the state's plan to borrow 450 million dollars over 10 years to finance stem-cell research. Pro-life supporters opposed the measure in New Jersey because it would pay for research that destroys human embryos and would increase state debt.
Oregon voters turned down a proposal to raise the cigarette tax to pay for health care for children who don't have insurance coverage.
And Utah voters have rejected the nation's first statewide school voucher program that would have given parents school choice.
Mattel, the world's largest toymaker, is recalling 155,000 of its products (including the Fisher-Price Laugh and Learn toy kitchen sets) over safety concerns that small pieces could detach from the toys and cause children to choke. The recalled toys are made in Mexico
In the last four months, millions of Chinese-made toys have been recalled by Mattel worldwide due to excessive levels of lead paint. http://www.mattel.com/
Oil prices continue to rise: Oil trading at $98 dollars a barrel overnight in Asia.
R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company will be phasing out 300 jobs by the end of the year. The job cuts should effect workers other than the Triad.
A toddler from India (born with four arms and four legs) is recovering after a team of 30 surgeons worked 27 hours to remove her four additional limbs. At last check, the 2 year old girl is in stable condition.
The crew aboard the space shuttle Discovery is preparing for a return to the
Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Touchdown should be around 1:02pm this afternoon.
