Election Day: Polls are open til 7:30pm
-Candidates running for various offices (mayor, town council and city council)
in Greensboro, Kernersville, Lexington, Wallburg and Midway .
Curbside voting is also available for those who are unable to enter the polling places.
-Voters in Davie and Surry counties will decide whether to approve a one-quarter percent tax increase.
-Voters in Walnut Cove and Trinity will decide whether to allow the sale of mixed drinks at public places like restaurants and hotels.

Late night comedy shows were the first casualties of the Hollywood writers strike. "The Late Show with David Letterman" and "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" went into reruns last night because of the strike.

Close to a million people have been forced from their homes in Mexico because of serious flooding. At least eight people have lost their lives. The flooding in the state of Tabasco is the worst that Mexico has seen in nearly 50 years.

THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION IS KEEPING AN EYE ON PAKISTAN.
President Musharraf suspended Pakistan’s constitution and arrested hundreds of opposition leaders.

BEIJING AND WASHINGTON D.C. HAVE REPORTEDLY AGREED TO A MILITARY-TO-MILITARY HOTLINE. The dedicated telephone line would be in place in order to avoid misunderstandings that could lead to an armed conflict.

NEARLY 80% OF ALL AMERICANS ARE ON LINE: A new Harris Poll finding that 178-million Americans go on line on a regular basis. The poll also found that Americans spend an average of eleven hours per week on-line. Back in 1995, only 9% of adults reported they went on line.

THE AIR FORCE IS GROUNDING IT’S F-15 FIGHTER JETS.
The decision to ground the fighters came after crash of a Missouri National Guard F-15 last Friday.

A 17-year-old high school student in Charlotte has been suspended after ‘buzzing’ a High School football stadium last Friday night. The student and 2 passengers flew a single-engine plane the length of the field at Hopewell High School three times around 8 p.m. last Friday night.
A signed football was dropped out of the plane. The plane flew low enough that police were able to take down the tail numbers and called Charlotte-Douglas Airport. The student has been suspended from school…but can keep his pilot’s license while the FAA investigates the incident.
