The Governor of Georgia will be among those praying for rain on the steps of the state capitol today. Much of Georgia is in the midst of a drought. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Governor Sonny Purdue stating that the state needs rain, he recognizes that the government can’t make it rain, so he is making the request to a higher power.

Hundreds of people are involved in the clean-up of last week’s oil spill in San Francisco Bay. Workers are washing the oil off of birds that got caught in the spill. About four-hundred birds have been killed another 500 are being cared for.

Winston-Salem police are investigating the death of an 8-year-old child found in a home on 21st Street early yesterday morning. Autopsy results are pending.

Consumer Reports finding that in 2006, only 27% of those who received a gift card never used them.
