The last filings in a lawsuit over public prayer at the start of Forsyth County Board of Commissioners meetings should be handed to federal court by next Monday. A ruling could come within the month. Both sides are asking the court for summary judgment -- in essence, to rule on the case without bringing it to a trial.

Edwards Elementary School in Havelock, North Carolina (on the coast) will close for a week because a student likely has the H1N1 or Swine Flu. The student is among five people listed as "probable" cases of swine flu in Carteret and Craven counties. An Onslow County man who recently traveled to Texas is the state’s only confirmed case of swine flu.
At last report, the CDC was reporting nationwide: 279 cases of Swine Flu in 36 states.

THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS SAYS ITS INDEX OF PENDING HOME SALES ROSE 3.2% FROM FEBRUARY TO MARCH. The rate is based on the number of contracts signed in March.

OFFSHORE TAX HAVENS AND OVERSEAS JOB CREATION ARE THE TARGETS OF A TAX CODE REFORM BEING PROPOSED BY THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION. The current tax code, says the president, makes it too easy for some businesses and individuals to avoid paying taxes by abusing overseas tax havens. The president cited one address in the Cayman Islands that serves as an address for thousands of corporations.
