Between now and Wednesday, expect your copy of the 20-10 Census form to show up in your mailbox. The Constitution requires counting people in the US every 10 years to re-distribute seats in the House of Representatives. Congress also needs the Census to allocate more than $400 billion dollars a year in federal aid to states and to re-draw political districts.
Questions on the Census include: how many people live at your address; whether the dwelling is owned or rented; a phone number; and, for each household member, a name, sex, age, date of birth and race. ***In May, thousands of Census workers will venture out to visit homes that did not return their census forms.
