Special meet n' greet this afternoon in High Point.
Olympic speed skater Heather Richardson will sign autographs and share her stories from Vancouver at the Rol-A-Rink on North Main Street in High Point. The event runs from 5 to 6:30pm this afternoon…and is open to the public. The Rol-A-Rink in HP is where Richardson learned how to in-line skate as a kid. FYI: During the 2010 Winter Games, Richardson placed 6th in the 500m, 9th in the 1000m and 16th in the 1,500m.

The clean up continues around the Piedmont from Sunday night’s storm damage
-The National Weather Service confirming that at least six tornadoes touched down in the state on Sunday. The strongest - the F-3 tornado that touched down in north High Point. Representatives from FEMA are scheduled to arrive in the Triad on Thursday to assess the damage. Volunteers with the North Carolina Baptist Men are helping homeowners clear trees toppled by the storms. Flood Warnings are still in effect for parts of the Northeast including Rhode Island. The good news: The big rain producing storm is moving away from the Northeast. Bad news: Flooding is expected through Friday. Rainfall across Rhode Island generally ranged from 5 to 9.5 inches.

In a reversal of a long-standing ban on most offshore drilling, President Obama will allow oil drilling 50 miles off Virginia's coastline and parts of the Gulf Coast. At the same time, he is rejecting some new drilling sites that had been planned in Alaska.
