Actor Corey Haim is being remembered by Hollywood after dying of apparent overdose yesterday at the age of 38. An autopsy will be performed later today. The jury in the Howard Plouff murder trial began deliberations yesterday afternoon. Keith Carter, the man accused of shooting Sergeant Plouff in 2007, chose not to take the stand and the defense declined to present evidence. The jury will continue deliberating this morning.

Police in Greensboro are investigating a scam that took several hundred people to the ‘cleaners’. Applicants thought that they were getting jobs with Spic-N-Span Cleaning, a company offering jobs on Craigslist. The company requested a check upfront for $55 dollars for uniforms. Now, Spic-N-Span Cleaning has skipped town. Police estimate that the scam brought in close to $5,500 dollars per day. If you were ‘taken’ by the scam you are urged to file a police report.

Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools could cut close to a dozen assistant principals positions and require unpaid vacations from employees in order to help make up…for an expected $5.25 million dollar budget deficit. The only cuts approved: the suspension of teacher bonuses. The school board will make the final decision about cuts at the end of April. Governor Bev Perdue has already asked districts to prepare for a 3% cut. (journalnow.com)
(Kansas City, Missouri) The Kansas City school board approved a plan to close or consolidation close to half of the city's public schools because of an ever growing deficit. The move will eliminate 700 jobs. Schools in at least 17 states have opted for four-day weeks.
