Code Orange Air Quality Alert today for the Triad
Your WBFJ Family Station Forecast:
Sunny and HOT…High 98.  Heat index = 104 degrees this afternoon.  Scattered showers and thunderstorms Saturday into Sunday afternoon.
With temperatures back into the 90s, you need to stay hydrated if you are going to be outside in the heat! Drink lots of water…even when you don't feel thirsty. Wearing lightweight, light-colored clothing can also keep you cooler. Be a good neighbor. During heat waves, be sure to check on elderly residents of your community, or those who don't have air conditioning, to make sure they are OK.

Traffic Alert this weekend…
All southbound lanes of I-85 (south of Lexington) near the Yadkin River will be shut down overnight this weekend. A DETOUR will be in place on (SB) I-85 starting at Clark Road from midnight to 6am…(early Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings)
FYI: Crews will be tearing down the old Highway 150 bridge

Are you taking the ‘Texting While Driving’ ban very seriously?  A ban on ‘texting while driving’ has been in place for more than a year in North Carolina.  According to law enforcement across the state, 482 people have been ticketed for ‘texting while driving’ across the state in July alone. While it's not illegal to use your mobile phone to make a call (or dial 911), if you are caught texting while driving, you could face a $100 dollar fine plus court costs. www.myfox8.com/news/wghp-story-texting-while-driving-north-carolina-110728,0,1904149.story

A church in Greensboro is without air conditioning for the third time this year because of copper theft. Fox 8 reporting that E-van-gel Fellowship Ministries in Greensboro had copper stolen from its large commercial AC unit sometime early Thursday morning. Police are using surveillance video to help nab the copper criminal.

Prayer / Call to Action
Over 10 million people are being affected by ongoing drought / famine which is affecting Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia. Thousands of people are migrating to overcrowded refugee camps in the Horn of Africa, only to find a lack of food and water there, too. The United Nations is calling the situation in East Africa the worst famine in 20 years.
