With temperatures back into the 90s, you need to stay hydrated if you are going to be outside in the heat!
-Drink lots of water…even when you don't feel thirsty. But, limit caffeine.
-Wearing lightweight, light-colored clothing can also keep you cooler.
-Be a good neighbor. During heat waves, be sure to check on elderly residents of your community, or those who don't have air conditioning, to make sure they are OK.

Don’t call the city of Winston-Salem ‘cheap’…just inexpensive? The cities of Winston-Salem and Portland, Oregon are receiving some international attention due to their low ‘cost of living’. "Mercer's Worldwide Cost of Living Survey” covered 214 cities across the globe, looking at the price of various necessities like clothing, housing, food costs and entertainment.

Residents in Trinity are voting on whether or NOT to allow alcohol sales in their town. Three voting precincts will remain open until 7:30 this evening.


Officials are warning about the potential dangers of raw milk after eight people have gotten sick in our state. WSOC-TV reporting that the raw milk has been traced to a dairy in York, South Carolina. Raw milk carries a higher risk of potentially harmful bacteria than milk that has been pasteurized. North Carolina prohibits the sale of raw milk to consumers, for human consumption. The sale of raw milk is legal in South Carolina.


Paula Graham from Advance is a winner. Actually, she’s a $4 million dollar winner after hitting it big in the North Carolina ‘Education Lottery’.  Paula will receive $200,000 dollars a year for the rest of her life (well, she will take home $136,000 after taxes). So, allowing the toddler to share the bed with you: good idea or bad idea? According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, it’s NOT harmful to toddlers to share the bed with you, as long as your child is at least one year old. And you and your child are getting safe, adequate sleep. The AAP warns that it's not advised for parents to sleep with infants before the age of 6 months. That's the time when babies are most at risk for sudden infant death syndrome (or SIDS).

A year after she was paralyzed at her bachelorette party, Rachelle Friedman knows one thing she would change about her life before the injury. Tropical Storm Bret, the second ‘named’ storm of the Atlantic Hurricane Season, is weakening slightly and heading out to sea. The coastal areas of North and South Carolina may experience more wind and rip tide watches/warnings over the next 24 hours.
