(Tuesday) The right lane of the SB I-85 bridge over Highway 29 / 70 and Highway 150 will be closed…
(Wednesday) The right lane of the NB I-85 bridge will be closed over the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks from 9 a.m. until noon (weather permitting).

(Lexington)
The N.C. DOT is closing one lane of Highway 64 west bound from Radio Drive to Business 85 in Lexington on Wednesday and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (weather permitting). Crews will be cutting and trimming trees along power lines in the area.  Watch your speed through the work zone.

The organizers of Rock the Block in Winston-Salem are looking for volunteers to help staff the event coming up in September. Volunteers are needed to help set up Saturday morning and tear down after the event. During the festival, volunteers are needed to assist at the Kid’s Zone, the music stages and to distribute ice and Rock the Block guides and surveys.  All volunteers will receive a free “Rock the Block Volunteer” T-shirt and an invitation to the volunteer appreciation party. President Obama and John Boehner (the Republican Speaker of the House) going prime time last night talking about the current debt crisis looming in Washington. Republican lawmakers want to cut back federal spending. Democrats want to include new taxes.










A New York Town Clerk resigned last week because of her moral conviction following the passage of same sex marriage in New York State.


The so called Marriage Equality Act went into effect on Sunday.


The clerk wrote in her resignation that she cannot participate in the licensing of same-gender marriages without compromising her moral conscience.


Although the ‘Marriage Equality Act’ provides protection for religious individuals such as pastors and priests who do not want to perform same-gender marriages, the town clerk would not have been protected.
