Headlines:
The Governor asking everyone in the state to get serious about conserving water. During a press conference yesterday, Governor Easley urging residents to stop watering their lawns and washing their cars to fight the state’s prolonged drought. Easley did not declare a state of emergency (because of the drought) in North Carolina…but he did order a statewide ban on open burning and strongly encouraged local governments to take steps to improve water conservation in their communities. More than half of North Carolina's 100 counties have been placed in the most severe drought category. Some relief in sight? (journalnow.com)
Rain likely on Thursday and Friday

According to the Mecklenburg County medical examiner's office, a 13-year-old boy who was injured during a football game last week died of a blunt trauma head injury. Will McLeod was an eighth-grader at North Lincoln Middle School. The teen’s mom stated that her son had carried the ball and was tackled. Will got up, walked to the sideline, and then fell to the ground.

IRAQ'S PRIME MINISTER IS CALLING FOR URGENT TALKS WITH TURKISH OFFICIALS. Turkey is considering a military response to stop Kurdish rebel attacks along the border with southeastern Turkey. The U.S. is urging Turkey not to take military action.

For the 3rd year in a row Casting Crowns has been nominated for an "American Music Award." Other Christian artists nominated include Jeremy Camp and TobyMac.
The American Music Awards will air on November 18th on ABC.

One man in Vermont is fighting to have a reference to John 3:16 to be allowed on his personalized license plate. A lower court upheld the Vermont governments policy prohibiting references to deities on license plates. The Alliance Defense Fund is calling Vermont’s current policy, quote, blatantly unconstitutional.

Waiting for a nap gives the same benefits as a few minutes of sleep.
So say researchers in England following up on previous work that showed ‘siestas’ or ‘naps’ lower the risk of fatal heart attacks. According to the study, you can lower your blood pressure during the minutes between when lights were turned off and when you fall asleep.
The report can be found in the online edition of the Journal of Applied Physiology.

The Colorado Rockies continue their storybook ride through the playoffs with a 6 –to- 4 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks…clinching the National League pennant and a first-ever trip to the World Series.
-The Cleveland Indians beat the Boston Red Sox last night…2 –to- 1.
The Indians lead the ALCS, 2 games to 1.
-The World Series starts next Wednesday.
