Flood watch for portions of the northern Piedmont and southern Virginia
NC: Stokes, Surry, Wilkes and Yadkin Counties
Virginia: Carroll, Grayson, Henry and Patrick Counties
Many of these counties have already received two to four inches of rain over the past two days. The threat for Flash Flooding continues thru mid-morning.
Good news for residents in Southern California:
More than half of the wildfires that have scorched hundreds of acres are now fully contained. Winds have calmed down and shifted. Some of the evacuation orders have been lifted.
Officials saying arson is to blame for at least one of the wildfires in Southern California. The reward has increased to a quarter-of-a-million dollar reward in connection with the Santiago Fire…which consumed nearly 26-thousand acres.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission saying that more than a half-million Chinese made toys are being recalled because of lead paint concerns.

Tonight at 8pm on Fox: The Christian indie band ‘Denver and the Mile High Orchestra’ has been chosen as one of the 12 finalist for Fox's latest reality show ‘The Next Great American Band’. The show is produced by the same producers of American Idol and is structured in a similar format. Each Friday every group performs a song and then the audience calls in and votes for their favorite group, the group with the fewest votes is eliminated and sent home. Denver and the Mile High Orchestra is hoping to score a national record deal through the reality show. Vote this Friday (October 26th) for their first live performance on the show.
Interesting…The latest AP poll finding that 34% of people questioned say that they believe in ghosts. One third of people polled also believe in UFO’s. Only 19% of people accept the existence of witchcraft (and spells).
