High Point officials announced yesterday they are lifting the mandatory water restrictions imposed on October 22, but voluntary restrictions remain in place.
Armed robberies are hitting record highs in Greensboro. Back in October 2006, police reported 16 armed robberies. So far in October 2007, the number has more than doubled to 36. Four businesses along East Market Street in Greensboro were robbed over the weekend.

THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA WAS SHAKEN BY A 5.6 magnitude EARTHQUAKE OVERNIGHT. There are no reports of serious damage or injuries.

The National Hurricane Center is urging residents in southern Florida to continue watching the progress of Tropical Storm Noel. Storm warnings are still in effect for the Bahamas and Cuba in the Caribbean.

The Los Angeles Times reporting that a boy has admitted to police that he started one of the wildfires in Southern California…while he was playing with some matches. There’s no word yet whether charges will be filed.The LA sheriff’s office has not released the boy’s age…only identifying him as a juvenile. Five wildfires are not fully contained.

Singer / actor Robert Goulet passed away on Tuesday. He was 73.
Goulet was on the waiting list for a lung transplant.

The former manager of the New York Yankees Joe Torre may soon be moving west to LA. ‘Unspecified sources’ saying that Torre has agreed to a three-year…$14.5 million dollar deal to manage the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Hanesbrands Incorporated (the makers of Hanes and Champion brand clothing) has signed a 10-year deal with the Walt Disney Company. The deal worth "tens of millions of dollars" includes attraction sponsorships and signage at Disney parks and resorts.

Old Salem Museums & Gardens in Winston-Salem is celebrating 200 years of Winkler family tradition this Saturday (November 3) a day of family fun planned with the focus on the Winkler Bakery.
