Good chance of rain through Friday for central NC.

New evacuation orders issued this morning: Almost 1 million ordered out of homes in Southern California. Wildfires are threaten new areas. About 50,000 people who were evacuated from San Diego County because of the wildfires in Southern California were allowed to return home last night. Nearly 600 square miles have been burned. 1,800 homes destroyed
More than six-thousand firefighters and about a hundred aircraft have been battling the fires. President Bush is scheduled to visit the area today.

Skybus Airlines will hold a Job Fair today at the Airport Marriott in Greensboro beginning at 9am. Skybus Airlines will start offering low cost flights from PTI beginning early next year. http://www.skybus.com/

The space shuttle Discovery is heading for a link up with the International Space Station. NASA says the Discovery crew will be in space for two weeks.

THE BOSTON RED SOX HOST THE COLORADO ROCKIES FOR GAME ONE OF THE WORLD SERIES TONIGHT. Game Two of the World Series will also be played in Boston.

The canned food items are being collected by local Waffle House restaurants on behalf of Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina. There is a severe shortage of emergency food supplies at area food banks.
