A weekend at the beach turns deadly: Seven college students lost their lives in a fire that raced through a beach house at Ocean Isle. Most of the students who died in the fire attended the University of South Carolina…one student went to Clemson. Thirteen students were staying at the beach house at the time of the fire.

The opening of an overflow homeless shelter at First Baptist Church in downtown WS has been pushed back from the beginning of November to the first of December because of building code concerns and sanitation details. The need for an overflow shelter came about after the WS City Council placed a 100 person cap at the city’s 4 existing homeless shelters.

OPRAH IS APOLOGIZING FOR ALLEDGED ABUSE AT THE SCHOOL SHE OPENED IN SOUTH AFRICA. The school principal and two administrators have been placed on leave.

Tropical storm warnings and Hurricane Watches are up in parts of the Caribbean. Tropical Storm Noel is threatening parts of Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Jamaica.

70% OF ALL THE WILDFIRES IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA HAVE BEEN CONTAINED. Seven people lost there lives and consumed hundreds of thousands of acres. Authorities have determined that two of the fires were intentionally set. Two other fires are considered suspicious.

The Boston Red Sox sweeping the Colorado Rockies…winning the World Series.

Country Music legend Porter Wagoner died Sunday after a battle with lung cancer. Wagoner was 80. Wagoner helped launch the career of Dolly Parton by hiring her as his duet partner in 1967.

Interesting…The latest AP poll finding that 34% of people questioned say that they believe in ghosts. One third of people polled also believe in UFO’s.
Only 19% of people accept the existence of witchcraft (and spells).
