This week is National Bike to Work Week. The goal of the week is to get Americans out of their cars and to promote exercise and clean air. According to the EPA, driving a car is the single most polluting thing most Americans do.

Another record high for a gallon of unleaded: AAA saying that the national average for a gallon of regular unleaded is now $3.75. In some cities (including Chicago) regular unleaded has passed $4 dollars a gallon.

Rescue efforts are slow after Monday quake in China: Chinese authorities are concerned that the number of fatalities (now over 15 thousand) could skyrocket unless more help arrives soon. 10 million people in southwestern China have been affected by the 7.9 magnitude earthquake on Monday. As a result of China's one-child policy, not only must thousands of parents suddenly cope with the loss of a child -- they must often cope with the loss of their only child.

California could become the second state after Massachusetts to allow same sex marriage. The California Supreme Court is set to rule on several lawsuits that seek to overturn a voter-approved law that defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman.

Former NC Senator John Edwards has endorsed Barack Obama for the Democratic Presidential nomination.
