A North Carolina A&T football player died after collapsing during a workout on campus. 22 year old Chad Wiley of Black Mountain, N.C., was taken to Moses Cone Hospital on Tuesday where he later died from complications related to heat illness. The university is providing counseling for students on campus.
Officials said he had just completed a 45-minute weight-lifting session when he and other teammates went outside into the 80-degree temperatures for a conditioning session.

A new "Choose Life" license plate has gained approved by the state House Transportation Committee. The bill now goes to the House Finance Committee.To be created, the Pro-Life license plate must be requested by 300 people. Proceeds from the additional $25 dollar fee for the ‘Choose Life’ plate would go to a special fund to benefit crisis pregnancy centers around the state.

Pro lifers in South Carolina are celebrating a new bill that goes into effect today. The bill allows women considering an abortion to see an ultrasound of their unborn baby.
Joan Hope (the founder of the Kernersville Little Theater) passed away on Monday. Joan had been battling cancer. A funeral is set for Friday at 4pm at St Matthews Episcopal Church. Joan was 79.

Dr. Michael J. Easley, the President of Moody Bible College, is stepping down at the end of the month because of health reasons.Easley underwent back surgery in November and has since had difficulty traveling…and just day to day activity is difficult.

The Forsyth County Public Library Central Branch has been doing some Spring cleaning. Roughly 2,000 magazines will be on sale starting today for members of the Friends of the Central Library between 4-6pm. The magazine sale is open to the public on Friday and Saturday.

Outgoing Winston-Salem police chief Pat Norris will be the next head of public safety at Winston-Salem State University. Norris replaces Willie Bell who is retiring June 30th.

We all are paying more for virtually everything that is tied to fuel. The next item that could jump in cost is emergency medical care. Forsyth County EMS officials have asked county commissioners to increase ambulance fees for the first time in three years.

For almost 60 years, Dianne Odell lived inside a 7-foot-long metal tube, unable to breathe outside it but determined not to let it destroy her spirit. But on Wednesday, Odell passed away when a power failure shut off electricity to the tube and stopped the pump drawing air into her lungs.
Dianne, age 61, lived in an iron lung after contracting polio at age 3.
From her 750-pound iron lung, she got a high school diploma, took college courses and wrote a children's book about a "wishing star" named Blinky.

Cartoonist Dick Sutcliffe, who created the stop action 1960s ‘claymation’ series "Davey & Goliath" passed away earlier this month in Dallas. Sutcliffe, age 90, died May 11 after suffering a stroke.
Sutcliffe, a Lutheran minister's son and former newspaper reporter, created the idea for the "Davey and Goliath" cartoons in the late 1950s while working as a radio programmer for the Lutheran Church.
The cartoon featured a young boy, Davey, modeled after Sutcliffe's son, and the talking dog Goliath, who served as the voice of frequently divine wisdom.The inspirational cartoon series was produced by the United Lutheran Church in America. www.upi.com/NewsTrack/Entertainment/2008/05/25/davey_and_goliath_cartoon_creator_dies/4866/
