The FAA is investigating the cause of engine failure that sent a US Airways jet into the Hudson River yesterday afternoon. It’s being called the ‘Miracle on the Hudson”. All passengers and crew were rescued. Just minor injuries reported. Flight 1549 had taken off from New York's LaGuardia Airport…heading to Charlotte when both of its engines failed.

THE U.S. SENATE HAS VOTED TO RELEASE THE SECOND HALF OF THE 700 BILLION DOLLAR BAILOUT PACKAGE TO INCOMING PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA. Earlier this week, President Bush officially requested that Congress release the money for use by the Obama administration.

Ever had a ‘bad’ movie theater experience? The Carmike 8 on N. Main Street in High Point has added a new policy after several youths caused a disturbance last Saturday night. Rocks and brownies were thrown during one of the movies. For the past 18 months or so, after Carmike in High Point dropped its ticket price to $1 for all movies, children as young as 6 have been coming to the theater unsupervised on Friday or Saturday nights and causing problems.

Eat some ribs for a good cause…The men’s group at Cornerstone Christian Church (Davie County) are hosting a benefit dinner this weekend to raise money for the family of Tom Myers, a praise band member who suddenly died last month after suffering an Aneurism.
