The Senate has voted unanimously to postpone the upcoming transition from analog to digital television broadcast until June 12th. The measure now goes to the House. Update: Tragic accident at one bus stop yesterday morning. A teenager was killed and the driver of an SUV has been charged with passing a stopped school. 16 year old Nicholas Adkins, a sophomore at McMichael High School in Stoneville was killed while crossing the street shortly after 7am yesterday morning.

A funeral service will be held this morning for former North Carolina Governor Bob Scott. The 79-year-old Scott died Friday after a period of declining health. The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Hawfields Presbyterian Church near his family farm in Alamance County.

TENS-OF-THOUSANDS OF JOB CUTS WERE ANNOUNCED YESTERDAY BOTH HERE IN THE U.S. AND ACROSS EUROPE. Among the U.S. firms announcing layoffs: Caterpillar, Sprint Nextel, Home Depot, and Texas Instruments. Locally, Lincoln Financial Group in Greensboro has announced another round of layoffs by the end of the week.

President Obama will visit Capitol Hill today in an attempt to win over Republican support for a massive economic stimulus package. The cost of that package is estimated at close to $825 billion dollars.

The Japanese company that owns Forest Oaks Country Club is considering selling the private golf club and has asked members if they are interested in becoming its new owners.
Forest Oaks was home to Greensboro's PGA Tour event, now known as the Wyndham Championship until tournament officials moved it across town to Sedgefield Country Club.
A Japanese company bought Forest Oaks in 1989 for around $11 million dollars.

Octuplets!!!!! A California woman has given birth to eight babies…that’s one more than doctors were expecting. The hospital said the mother, who asked not to be identified, gave birth to six boys and two girls weighing between 1.8 pounds and 3.4 pounds. One of the doctors described the discovery of the eighth baby as a, quote, "shocker!" The delivery team had spent weeks practicing for the big day. www.wxii12.com/health/18571103/detail.html
