A Flood Watch has been issued for portions of North Carolina and Virginia through Wednesday afternoon. Surry and Wilkes County are included in the Flood Watch Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches can be expected…causing smaller creeks
and streams to possibly over flow.

The Death Certificate stating that Jett Travolta died of a seizure. An autopsy was conducted on the 16-year-old son of John Travolta and Kelly Preston yesterday in the Bahamas. The autopsy also showed that there was no sign of head trauma. Jett’s remains have been cremated. The Travolta family is planning on returning to the US later today.

TODAY MARKS THE BEGINNING OF THE 111TH CONGRESS. All members of both the Senate and the House of Representatives will be sworn in today. Still some questions remain as to who will occupy the Senate seats representing Illinois and Minnesota.In the House, members will elect the Speaker of the House. California Democrat Nancy Pelosi is expected to remain speaker. Senate leaders have indicated they would not seat the man appointed by the embattled Governor of Illinois to succeed Barack Obama. And Republican Norm Coleman says he is challenging the recount that declared Democrat Al Franken the winner of a tight Senate race in Minnesota.

Defense officials in Israel reporting that military ground operations in Gaza could be wrapped up by the end of the week. President Bush and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon will meet and discuss the Israeli-Gaza crisis later today. from the Jerusalem Post

The FBI is looking for thousands of new employees. The Bureau says it's looking to hire 850 new special agents and more than 21-hundred professional support staff employees at locations across the nation. The greatest need is for applicants with expertise in language fluency and computer science. www.fbi.gov
