NC State Women’s Basketball coach Kay Yow lost her battle with breast cancer Saturday morning. Yow was 66.
Update: A public viewing will be held at Colonial Baptist Church in Cary this Friday from 10 to 2pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10am in her hometown of Gibsonville.
Tonight’s N.C. State women’s game against Wake Forest has been moved to February 10th.

GASOLINE PRICES ARE MORE THAN 20 CENTS HIGHER THAN THEY WERE JUST ONE MONTH AGO. The Triple A says the national average price for regular unleaded is just over a $1.84.

Illinois lawmakers are launching an impeachment trial today that could remove Governor Rod Blagojevich from office…the governor himself will be far from the capitol building - instead chatting with Larry King and the women of "The View." Greensboro police are investigating the shooting death of a student at A&T State University. 22 year old Dennis Hayle was found shot to death at his off-campus apartment around 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning. A memorial service is being planned for later this week.

President Obama has issued an Executive Order on Friday rescinding the so-called “Mexico City Policy”. That ‘policy’ kept federal money from going to overseas non-governmental organizations that performed or promoted abortion. The Mexico City Policy was originally put in place by Ronald Reagan back in 1984. It was rescinded by President Clinton in 1993 and restored by President George W. Bush in 2001.

PARTS OF FRANCE AND SPAIN ARE RECOVERING FROM DEADLY STORMS. The Euro-news news service reports that severe weather is blamed for at least eleven deaths in Spain and four deaths in France.

Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer is buying rival drug maker Wyeth in a $68 billion dollar cash-and-stock deal. Pfizer also says its net income for the fourth quarter dropped 90% from a year ago.

Expect a ‘Best of’ CD from Avalon next month. The quartet has sold more than three million albums and charted 20 number one singles. Avalon’s new project will be released on February tenth.

"Slumdog Millionaire" continued its unlikely rise from low-budget underdog to the highest Hollywood heights, winning the Screen Actors Guild Award for best cast of a motion picture.
