A Greensboro cyclist is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries following a accident involving a vehicle yesterday afternoon. The accident happened at the intersection of Pembroke Road and Northline Avenue. Police said 52-year-old Susan Pannell was riding her bicycle when she did not stop at the intersection and struck the side of a Jeep Cherokee. Police said a 16-year-old was driving the vehicle. Police did not say whether any charges would be filed in the accident.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE IS SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY FOR THE VICTIMS OF THE FORT HOOD SHOOTING. President Obama and the first lady will attend. 13 people lost their lives in the attack. Forty-two people were wounded. Army investigators and the F-B-I are continuing their investigation of the tragedy. Sixteen victims including the suspected shooter remained hospitalized.

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA IS APPLAUDING THE PASSAGE OF THE HEALTH CARE REFORM BILL BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. The House passed the bill this weekend by a vote of 220 to 215. Opponents say the health care bill would raise costs, increase the deficit and lead to a government takeover of the health care system. Running and eating doughnuts for a good cause. The first annual Matthew Gfeller Memorial 5-K Doughnut Run is set for this Saturday (Nov 14) at 9am at Reynolds High School. Proceeds from the race will benefit a scholarship foundation established in memory of Matt Gfeller, the Reynolds football player who died last year during a game against Greensboro Page. FYI: During the Gfeller 5-K, challengers for the overall titles must eat six doughnuts at the halfway point. Casual runners can eat fewer than six, but every runner must eat at least one doughnut.
