Increased ‘Fire Danger’ has been issued for central North Carolina (including the Triad) Because of low humidity and breezy conditions…NO outdoor burning today

THE CHRISTIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION IS GIVING A SCATHING REVIEW OF THE NEW HEALTH CARE BILL IN THE HOUSE. The nation's largest faith-based association of physicians strongly criticized the new 2 thousand-page bill. -In a recent poll, 45% of all physician respondents saying they are ready to leave medicine if health care overhaul passes.
-The number rises to 95% for faith-based health care professionals who say they are ready to leave medicine if their conscience rights are weakened.

THE U-S SENATE HAS APPROVED AN EXTENSION OF UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS FOR JOBLESS AMERICANS. More than one in three people who are currently unemployed have been out of work for at least six months. Lawmakers have already extended jobless benefits twice.

LIFE DECISIONS INTERNATIONAL HAS RELEASED THEIR LIST OF COMPANIES WHICH SUPPORT PLANNED PARENTHOOD. The list includes Whole Foods, eBay and Nike. L-D-I says 231 corporations have stopped funding Planned Parenthood so far costing the abortion-industry more than 40-million-dollars. Election officials clear up ‘election night’ mix-up in the Mayor’s race between Teresa Lewis and Deborah Cochranin in Mt Airy. Early in the evening the State Board of Elections was saying that Ms Lewis was the unofficial winner. Then, Ms Lewis got a call from the Surry County Board of Elections saying that results from two precincts had been incorrectly reported and that she had lost the race, not won it.
According to the revised complete but unofficial results, Lewis got 897 votes and her opponent, Deborah Cochran, got 1,018.

Boone resident, Dickson “Doc” Hendley (30 years old) will be honored in Raleigh at noon today as one of CNN’s Top 10 Heroes for 2009. He was selected from among more than 9,000 nominees. Hendley’s Wine to Water ministry brings sustainable drinking water to people in such places as Sudan, Uganda and Cambodia. FYI: You can vote for Hendley through November 19th. ‘Extreme’ Blood Drive this Sunday (Nov 8) In conjunction with the home building project, come out and Give the Gift of Life. The American Red Cross “Extreme Blood Drive” is set for this Sunday (Nov 8) from 12:30pm until 5pm at Reeds Baptist Church at the corner of Hwy 150 and old 64 in Lexington. All blood types are needed.

During the build (Nov 11-17), volunteers and spectators are encouraged to bring ‘non-perishable / canned food items to the ‘build’ site.
