The Moravian Falls community in Wilkes County was affected by flooding yesterday afternoon. The rain also caused a rockslide along Highway 18 in Wilkes County. The road was shut down for nearly five hours. It has since reopened. WXII

The Obama administration is considering releasing oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to help ease the pain at the gas pumps. Over a thousand people came out to see former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee at First Wesleyan in High Point yesterday. According to a Barna report, evangelical Christians favorably prefer Mike Huckabee as a 2012 Republican presidential candidate. Despite its status as a majority Christian nation, religious persecution is on the rise in central Ethiopia. Charisma News reporting that church buildings and Christian evangelists are being targeted for attack by Muslims.  Last week, thousands of Muslims razed five churches and the homes of two evangelists in Asendabo, Ethiopia (about 3 hours southwest of Addis Ababba, the capital city). International Christian Concern (ICC) reports that Muslim attackers continued to burn down churches even after federal police were brought in. Also, a Muslim mob attacked Christian missionaries in the Oma village. Congratulations to the Lady Blue Devils on winning the Women’s ACC Basketball Championship on Sunday, beating the lady Tarheels…81 – 66.


The North Carolina Tarheels have the #1 seed going into the Men’s ACC Basketball Tournament later this week…after beating Duke on Saturday night. The Tarheels play the Miami –Virginia winner at noon on Friday.
