No outdoor burning today: Red Flag Warning has been issued for central North Carolina (including the Triad). Dry, breezy conditions along with the warm weather will make brush fires a possibility.


Breaking News: Elizabeth Taylor has died. The legendary actress famed famous for her beauty and many marriages died in Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles.


Crews with Samaritan’s Purse that are on the ground helping earthquake and tsunami victims in near Sendai, Japan are dealing with another challenge, a fuel shortage. The Japanese government has issued emergency fuel permits that allow for only five gallons of gas or diesel per day…per vehicle. And that fuel allotment does not allow them to transport supplies very far.
There is still no running water and no electricity in Sendai.
BTW: Samaritan’s Purse is in the process of handing out 90 tons of supplies that were flown in late last week. Local volunteers, most of them with area churches, are helping distribute the supplies, which including plastic tarps, buckets and hygiene kits.

THE FDA SAYS ALL DAIRY PRODUCTS AND PRODUCE FROM NORTHEAST JAPAN CLOSEST TO THAT CRIPPLED NUCLEAR POWER PLANT WILL BE BARRED FROM ENTERING THE US.

A Davidson County teenager has died from her injuries after a car crash on Monday night. 17 year old Chelsea Lamb was an 11th grader at Ledford High School. A 16 year old passenger, April English…a 10th grader at Central Davidson High School, is in critical but stable condition at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. The crash happened around 10pm Monday night southeast of Lexington. A 1992 Accord driven by Vicente Lopez collided with a 1997 Accord driven by 17-year-old Jonathan Colyn. A campus memorial service will be held this Friday to remember Brooke Edwards, the 15 year old Reagan High School freshman who was killed last Friday night after she walked into the path of a minivan. Brooke was the oldest of four sisters and was active in the youth group at her church. Brooke’s parents, Paul and Staci Edwards, saying that their faith in God will give them the strength to pull through this difficult situation . The driver of the van was not charged in the incident that happened near West Forsyth High School.


School officials with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system may be able to preserve teachers' jobs but will need to cut pay and additional layoffs in other areas. The WS Journal reporting that the system is looking at laying off 100 to 150 people, although the number could be higher depending on the state budget. A final vote on the school budget is likely on April 25.


With yard sale season cranking up, there seems to be more temporary signs along the roadways and even on utility poles. Well, the Town of Kernersville is busy taking down signs that have been put up illegally. The city ordinance states that temporary signs are NOT allowed along the side of the road in front of utility poles. And yes, it’s also illegal to post signs on utility poles. Temporary signs, such as yard sale and real estate signs are allowed in private yards from noon Friday through noon Monday.  New businesses are also allowed to display grand opening banners on their property for up to 21 days without a permit.
