Happy 5th Birthday to ‘twitter’.  With people sending and receiving information about natural disasters to political up-risings to rants from Charlie Sheen, twitter has exploded into a major  social medium since the first tweet 5 years ago. AT+T has offered to purchase T-Mobile, pending regulatory approval. New recommendations regarding children and car seats and booster seats.  The American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued separate but consistent new recommendations saying that children should ride in rear-facing car seats until they are two years old. Counselors are on hand today at Reagan High School in Winston-Salem after a fellow student was struck by a car and killed Friday night.   15 year old Brooke Edwards, of Pfafftown, and a group of friends were crossing Lewisville Clemmons Road in front of West Forsyth High School (after attending a lacrosse game ) Friday evening when she turned and ventured back into the road…in the path of a van. The driver of the van that struck Brooke was not charged in the incident. Brooke was a freshman at Reagan.

Near abduction of a young child. Laura Hunsucker telling officers that her 4-year-old daughter was nearly ‘taken’ by another woman at Frazier Park around 3:30pm yesterday afternoon in Asheboro. Fox 8 reporting that Hunsucker had turned away from her 4 year old daughter ‘for just a moment’ to tend to her other child in a stroller . That’s when a Hispanic woman grabbed her daughter and started running. Hunsucker ran after the suspect until the kidnapper dropped the child. UPDATE from Japan: Workers have been evacuated from the damaged nuclear plant earlier today after gray smoke rose from one of its reactor units. Fox News confirming that UN member nations including the US have damaged Libyan dictator Muammar al-Qaddafi's compound in Tripoli. A No-Fly Zone was implemented over the weekend to protect the Libyan people and weaken Qaddafi's forces.  Also, the four N.Y. Times journalists reported captured by Gadhafi forces on March 15th were freed earlier today following intervention by Turkish negotiators. The reporters were heading to the Libyan border to be handed over to U.S. officials.
