There’s already a ban on young drivers from using cell phones while behind the wheel in North Carolina. Everyone else: NO texting or emailing while driving. Could it go further? A House Commerce subcommittee, in Raleigh, is debating a measure that would make using a cell phone while driving illegal, with the hands-free option of using a Bluetooth or a voice-activated phone while driving. If passed, fines would be $100 or more but would not lead to driver's license points that could result in higher insurance premiums.  The exception: making a 911. Law-enforcement officers and first responders would also be exempt in order to perform official duties. www.journalnow.com/news/2011/mar/24/wsmain01-legislators-debate-bill-to-ban-cellphone--ar-886972/#poll_219

The new shelter will double the size of the dining hall and increase the number of beds for the homeless. FYI: So many people show up for free lunches at the Samaritan Ministries' soup kitchen that serving time now starts at 10:30am to meet the need.  http://samaritanforsyth.org/

Heavy smoking has decreased dramatically in the US. According to researchers at the University of California, San Diego, about 23% of Americans in 1965 smoked at least one pack of cigarettes a day. By 2007, that number had dropped to just over seven percent .  The study appears in Journal of the American Medical Association.  RNR

Bottled water is a ‘hot commodity’ in Japan.  Earlier this week, Tokyo residents were told not to let infants drink tap water because of high radiation levels.  In the US, the FDA is screening ‘all’ produce and dairy products imported from Japan…to insure safety.
