(Greensboro) Both lanes of Holden Road from
Spring Garden to Wendover Avenue are closed this morning.
An early morning accident resulting in a tractor trailer overturning.

A WS police officer was shot in the thigh last night after responding to a domestic assault report. The incident occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m. Thursday near Healy Drive and Ashleybrook Lane. The officer's injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

14 year old Josh Hobson was looking forward to his last day at
Forbush Elementary School on Thursday but instead wound up in the hospital. Hobson is recovering after being hit by a vehicle yesterday morning on Old Highway 421 in the East Bend area. The driver of the vehicle faces charges for failure to stop for a school bus.

Elevated levels of lead have been detected in Davidson Water supplies.
County workers say the water is clean. But chemicals used to make it safe could be adding to the threat of lead in your tap water. As a precautionary measure, health departments in Davidson, Forsyth and Randolph counties are asking children under age 6 and pregnant women not to drink tap water provided by Davidson Water INC.

SPACE SHUTTLE ATLANTIS IS SCHEDULED for LIFT OFF THIS EVENING AT around 7:38P.M. The 7 person crew will focus on the continued construction of the International Space Station.

In jail…out of jail…now back in court: THE LA JUDGE WHO SENTENCED PARIS HILTON to jail HAS ORDERED HER BACK IN COURT TODAY. Paris Hilton was released from jail early Thursday and placed under house arrest because of unspecified health concerns. Hilton served only 3 or her 23 day sentence after violating her reckless-driving probation.

Severe thunderstorms and tornadoes ripping through the Upper Midwest last night…producing baseball-size hail and dropping more than 6 inches of rain in some areas of Wisconsin.

-A BILL SUPPORTING EMBRYONIC STEM CELL RESEARCH HAS CLEARED CONGRESS…but will likely be vetoed by President Bush.
-PRO-LIFE GROUPS ARE APPLAUDING THE U.S. HOUSE FOR NOT PASSING A CLONING BILL on Wednesday. The bill would have allowed for the large-scale cloning of human embryos for purposes of research.

President Bush struck by a stomach bug during the last day at the G-8 summit in Germany. World leaders at the G-8 summit have agreed
on a $60 billion dollar pledge to help fight AIDS and other fatal diseases.

An Immigration Reform Bill has died in the Senate. The Immigration bill, endorsed by President Bush, would have tightened borders and granted legal status for up to 12 million illegal immigrants.

A Virginia company is recalling 55-pound bags of its Ol' Roy Complete Nutrition dog food which may be contaminated with salmonella. The dry dog food is sold at 69 Wal-Mart stores in North Carolina and five other states. Doane Pet Care recall information: code number (04-0735-1) with a freshness date of April 13, 2008.
