Evening thunderstorms rolling through Greensboro last night…knocking out power at Moses Cone Hospital for two hours. Around a thousand homes still without power this

The Midway Town Council staying with opening it’s monthly meetings with a moment of silence. The Council voted in May to adopt a Moment of Silence after the ACLU threatened a lawsuit saying that sectarian pray was unconstitutional. (WBFJ News - VH)

Three people including a WS police officer were taken to Baptist Hospital
after a Hummer crossed the center line and crashed into the police cruiser.
Sgt. Allison Marion was on patrol late last night on Clemmonsville Road when the accident happened. There were three people in the Hummer…one passenger fled the scene.
Officers with K-9 units are searching the area for the passenger who took off. (WXII)

Bill France Jr., the man who transformed NASCAR from a small Southern sport into a billion-dollar conglomerate died on Monday. He was 74. France had been in poor health after he was diagnosed with cancer back in 1999. NASCAR: Martin Truex, Jr winning at Dover Delaware (Autism Speaks 400) (www.nascar.com)

A medical transport plane carrying six members of an organ transplant team went down in Lake Michigan yesterday shortly after the pilot signaled an emergency. There was no word on survivors.The plane was leased by the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor.
The team was returning from Milwaukee with unspecified organs for transplant to a patient in Michigan. (USA Radio News)

ALL made up…for a good cause? AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands –
A reality TV show where a woman was going to donate a kidney to one of three contestants…was all a hoax. Organizers of the Big Donor Show were trying to raise public attention of the need for organ donation. (CNN)
