A man tried to jump into Pope Benedict XVI's uncovered popemobile as the pontiff began his general audience in VATICAN CITY today. He held onto the popemobile for a few seconds before being wrestled to the ground by security officers. The pope was not hurt and didn't even appear to notice that the man - who was between 20 or 30 years old. (AP)

Republican debate last night in New Hampshire. 10 GOP presidential candidates sharing their views on Iraq, health care and global warming. Many of the Republican candidates said that they agreed with President Bush in ordering the attack on Iraq, but not necessarily how it was handled since. Candidate Rudi Gulliani’s comments on Abortion coincided with a lightning strike during the debate. (CNN)

Norris Hall, the classroom building where a student gunman fatally wounded 30 people as well as himself on the Virginia Tech campus back in April will reopen later this month. Norris Hall will reopen June 18. The College of Engineering will use Norris for offices and laboratories.

No survivors likely in the crash of a small plane in Lake Michigan that was carrying a six-member organ transplant team and their cargo on Monday. The pilot signaled an emergency just before the crash. One of the crash victims had ties to the Triad…Dr. David Ashburn completed his residency at WF Baptist Medical Center . The search continues for a kidnapping suspect involved in an accident Monday night that injured a Winston-Salem police officer. Police say Brandon Mathis and another man pulled a gun on the owner of a hummer and forced him to drive them.The victim crossed the center line and crashed into a police cruiser driven by Sergeant A.R. Marion…at the intersection of Waughtown and Clemmonsville in Winston-Salem. Sergeant Marion broke some ribs but is in fair ondition. Police are still looking for Brandon Mathis. He has been charged with kidnapping, robbery, and burglary. One of the alleged kidnapped is also at the hospital. Police say he was shot in the head. (WXII / News2)

Bob Barker has been part of the Price is Right for 35 years. Barker , 83, will lay down his skinny microphone and retire from the Price is Right later in June.

The wrong kind of whistle has resulted in a grocery store employee losing his job.
Tom Pacholke said he was fired April 27 after using what is known as a wolf whistle to get a co-worker's attention.
The 18-year-old whistled at his co-worker after she came into the store wearing a prom dress. Tom the 18 yaer old has known the co-worker since seventh grade.
Eventhough she didn't complain, he still lost his job (after 18 months of employment). CNN

63 years ago today (June 6, 1944) …The Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy against the Nazi forces during WWII. On D-Day…an estimated 10,000 soldiers died on the 5 beaches of Normandy in France on that one day. (AP)
