Elevated levels of lead have been detected in Davidson Water supplies.
County workers say the water is clean. But chemicals used to make it safe could corrode your plumbing, causing lead to get into your tap water. The tests focused on homes with copper pipes because the company said those homes are most at risk. A change the company made to meet new EPA standards may be connected to the elevated levels of lead. As a precautionary measure, health departments in Davidson, Forsyth and Randolph counties are asking children under age 6 and pregnant women not to drink tap water. High levels of lead at West Davidson High School were detected in March. (Fox 8 / News 2)

Extra cleanliness and hold the mice: Health inspectors closed a Pizza Hut restaurant in east Raleigh earlier in the week after a worker found live mice inside it. The Pizza Hut in question scored a rating of 90 during an inspection on Monday. The inspector noted rodent droppings behind an ice machine. She didn't see any live rodents inside during the inspection.
A contractor laid out glue-covered boards Monday night to get rid of the rodents, and an employee found six live mice stuck to the boards at the time of opening the restaurant Tuesday morning. That employee called the Wake County Health Department, and an inspector ordered the Pizza Hut closed. The inspector also pulled the restaurant's permit so it can't operate until the rodent problem is corrected. (WRAL)
