Texas and all of central Mexico preparing for Hurricane Dean.
Dean is currently moving west toward the Cayman Islands and Mexico's Yucatan peninsula. Dean hammered the southern coast of Jamaica on Sunday. Hurricane Dean is expected to strengthen to a category 5 storm later today. (Cat 5 = sustained winds of more than 155 mph).

NASA officials are bringing home the crew aboard Space Shuttle Endeavour a day early because of Hurricane Dean. . Endeavour will return to Houston (weather permitting) on Tuesday. The Reverend Billy Graham remains in an Asheville hospital for evaluation and treatment of intestinal bleed. After tests on Saturday, Graham’s condition does not appear to be life-threatening. http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/08/18/Graham.illness/index.html

"Amazing Grace" was played. More than 10,000 people stood in silence on the Virginia Tech campus for the dedication of 32 memorial stones to remember those killed by a student during a shooting rampage in April. http://www.vt.edu/

Bridge repair: Davidson County, South of Lexington
NB I-85 at Highway 150 ( Mile Marker 82 ) near the Yadkin River will be down to one lane today from 8:30 to 4pm… Use Highway 29 as an alternate route.

WS: A portion of Fourth Street (between Broad and Burke Street) will be closed over the next 4 weeks. New water and sewer lines are being installed.
