BECAUSE OF WORLDWIDE FEARS OF A RICE SHORTAGE, SAM'S CLUB OUTLETS ARE LIMITING HOW MUCH RICE ITS CUSTOMERS CAN BUY. The Wal-Mart warehouse chain says it has enough rice for its members but it's being precautionary. Sam's Club is limiting sales of its 20-pound bags of imported rice to four bags per customer.The restriction does not apply to smaller, retail-sized bags of rice at Sam's Club or at Wal-Mart stores.

A CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEE IS ASKING IF AMERICA'S POLICY OF MAINTAINING AN OIL RESERVE IS CONTRIBUTING TO RECORD OIL PRICES. The Select Committee on Energy Independence says the U.S. buys 70-thousand barrels of oil a day for the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. It's holding a hearing today to examine that policy.

School resource officers at two Davidson County schools making arrests last week because of drugs found on school property. Two students arrested at a dance last Thursday evening at Brown Middle School after an officer discovering that one of the students was trying to sell marijuana to other students. Also, Last Thursday, an officer at Ledford Senior High School discovered a knife lying on the passenger seat of a vehicle parked in the school's parking lot.
After a search of the vehicle, officers found two small packages of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. An 18 year old student was arrested.

The next two presidential primaries: Indiana and North Carolina. Registered voters in North Carolina can vote EARLY. Early voting going on now through May 3. The North Carolina Primary is Tuesday, May 6th.

JUNEAU, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin gave birth to her fifth child, a boy, last Friday about a month before her due date. Trig Paxson Van Palin weighed 6 pounds, 2 ounces.
A news release from Palin's office says the 44-year-old governor and the baby are doing well and resting comfortably. "Trig is beautiful and already adored by us," the Palin family said in a statement. "We knew through early testing he would face special challenges, and we feel privileged that God would entrust us with this gift and allow us unspeakable joy as he entered our lives." Teen pop star Miley Cyrus has signed a book deal to tell the story of her young life. The memoir will focus on Miley and her mom. Miley said that "I hope to motivate mothers and daughters to build lifetimes of memories together and inspire kids around the world to live their dreams." "I am so excited to let fans in on how important my relationship with my family is to me," said the 15-year-old singer-actress. Miley Cyrus stars in the Disney Channel series "Hannah Montana." Cyrus is the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus. The memoir will be out next spring.

SPORTS: Why has Junk food been taken out of the NY Yankees’ club house? Because Head coach Joe Girardi says so.The Yankees contacted the visiting clubhouse manager of every stadium where they play and asked that the candy and ice cream be removed before the team comes to town.
