Umbrella alert through Friday...

Only about half of High School students in the nation’s largest cities actually get a diploma. A new report by the non-profit group ‘America's Promise Alliance’ found that only about half the students in 17 of the nation's 50 largest cities actually make it to graduation day. Many independent truckers are organizing a nationwide strike starting today through Thursday (April 1 through April 3) because of rising fuel prices. Big Rig drivers say that they are running out of money to support their families or pay bills since the spike in fuel costs.
According to AAA: diesel fuel is at or over $4.oo dollars a gallon in 24 states.

Severe storms rolling across the nation's midsection yesterday. National Weather Service confirming that an F1 tornado did touch down in northern Oklahoma County. The heavy rains brought flood warnings to parts of Illinois. Snow fell across parts of Minnesota and Colorado.

State Forestry officials are hopeful that the Sauratown Mountain wildfire is finally out. The wildfire has burnt close to 400 acres since last Wednesday *The statewide open burning ban has been cancelled. Because of inmprving weather conditions, Burning Permits started being issued yesterday.

Smoking Ban coming to three local BBQ restaurants on Wednesday. John Wayne's Barbecue, Whitley's and Smokey Joe's BBQ in Lexington will be going ‘smoke-free’ tomorrow which is also National Kick (the Habit) Day.
