RESIDENTS IN PARTS OF CENTRAL AND SOUTHEASTERN VIRGINIA ARE CLEANING UP THIS MORNING after three tornadoes ripped through Suffolk and Colonial Beach. As many as 200 people were injured. A state of Emergency has been declared by the Governor of Virginia. (The Suffolk News Herald)

A recent spike in global food prices prompting the United Nations to hold emergency meetings in Switzerland. The U.N. Secretary General called the two-day gathering in hopes of finding solutions to a problem he says is increasing poverty, hunger, and instability around the world.

With a spike in crude oil prices, Europe's largest oil company (Shell Oil) is reporting a 25% rise in first-quarter earnings…bring in a cool $5.1 billion dollars.
