Speaking of taxes: "TAX FREEDOM DAY" comes three days earlier this year falling on April 23rd. Tax Freedom Day represents the day that Americans have earned enough money to pay the year's tax obligations (federal, state, and local taxes). TFD is calculated by the private Tax Foundation group.

Fuel prices hitting record highs again: Triple-A's Daily Fuel Gauge Report showing that the national average price for unleaded gasoline has hit a record high of three-dollars-and-39 cents a gallon. Diesel fuel averaging four-dollars-and-12 cents a gallon.

A planned 6 day visit to the US by POPE BENEDICT (the 16th) starts today. After spending time at the White House the Pope will travel to New York City. On Saturday: TobyMac, Third Day and former "American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson will perform during the Papal Youth Rally at St. Joseph's Seminary Chapel in New York.

Officials with Delta and Northwest have approved a merger deal that will create the world's largest airline. The deal still faces FAA approval. (CNN)

Wachovia Corporation reporting a $393 million dollar first quarter loss. Wachovia will cut 500 jobs in its corporate offices and investment division. The job cuts should affect employees in Charlotte and New York, but not here in Winston-Salem. (http://www.journalnow.com/)

More than 100 wedding gowns will go on sale Wednesday morning at all four Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores in the Triad.127 brand new gowns were anonymously donated on Monday.
The dresses range from sizes 6 to 16 and almost all have their original price tags.
